Description
The brilliance and richness of a fine Margaux wine
The estate
Château Palmer is a star in the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. After having built its legendary story on vintages that have become mythical, Château Palmer continues to write its history under the direction of the talented Thomas Duroux.
The vineyard
Benefiting from an exceptional terroir located in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary, Château Palmer comprises an unusual grape composition in the Médoc, with a strong emphasis on the Merlot variety, which appears alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The vintage
The 2005 vintage is remembered for its historic drought, occurring for the first time since 1976.
Although the flowering period went well at the beginning of June, the summer period was marked by an exceptional drought which stopped the growth of the vineyard prematurely. The estate's teams increased their efforts to ensure that the grapes received optimum nutrition. The small size of the grapes means that they are highly concentrated and thus guarantee to boast a high quality. Harvesting began on 22 September, enabling the harvest of aromatic grapes with powerful and velvety tannins.
Vinification and ageing
Throughout the winemaking process, extraction is carried out with great precision, with the aim of preserving the freshness and balance of this powerful and aromatic vintage.
The blend
Merlot (40%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (53%)
Petit Verdot (7%).
