Description
A rich and intense Cristal Rosé by Louis Roederer
The property
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent for over 200 years. Currently led by Frédéric Rouzaud, the seventh generation of the family, Louis Roederer exemplifies the excellence of Champagne wines globally, crafting cuvées that are true works of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vineyards, Louis Roederer draws strength from its extraordinary terroir, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus across the Marne Valley, Montagne de Reims, and Côte des Blancs. This mosaic of vineyards is divided into 410 plots, showcasing the rich diversity of Champagne’s soils.
The wine
The iconic cuvée, first created in 1876 for the Tsar of Russia, Cristal is crafted from 45 exceptional plots spanning 7 Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley, and the Côte des Blancs.
The vintage
The 2008 vintage is distinguished by a unique combination of cool and warm climatic phases, allowing for the development of grapes with remarkable freshness and complexity. The balanced conditions of this vintage highlight the interplay of the soils and the expertise of the vineyard teams, resulting in a wine that beautifully expresses its origins.
Vinification and aging
Cristal Rosé 2008 was bottle-aged for 8 years before being left to rest for an additional 8 months after disgorging to attain perfect maturity. The Louis Roederer House has developed a unique technique in making its rosé champagnes. The "infusion" of Chardonnay juice in a maceration of Pinot Noir allows for a harmonious integration of flavors while preserving freshness. The champagne does not undergo malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 8 g/l.
