Description

A superb red wine from Pauillac, silky with a rich aromatic palette

The estate

2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Château Pichon Baron belongs to the elite of the Grands Crus of Pauillac, on the left bank of Bordeaux.

The vineyard

A true mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard of Château Pichon Baron extends over perfectly drained Médoc gravel soils. The oldest vines of the estate are used in the making of this emblematic Pauillac wine.

The vintage

The particularly mild conditions at the beginning of the year favor early bud break and flowering. The grapes were able to benefit from optimal sunshine, ensuring a beautiful concentration of berries. The Merlots were harvested from September 26 to October 3, then the Cabernet Sauvignons from October 7 to 14.

Vinification and aging

Macération of 15 to 23 days. The aging of 15 months is carried out in barrels (70% new and 30% of one wine).

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (65%)
Merlot (35%).
