The estate

2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Château Pichon Baron belongs to the elite of the Grands Crus of Pauillac, on the left bank of Bordeaux.

The vineyard

A true mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard of Château Pichon Baron extends over 73 hectares of vines planted on perfectly drained Médoc gravel soils. The oldest vines of the estate are used in the making of this emblematic Pauillac wine.

The wine

Produced since the 2012 vintage, Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is the Second Wine of Château Pichon Baron.

The vintage

A cold and rainy winter precedes a wet spring. The flowering is homogeneous. Following a hot and dry summer, optimal conditions until the harvest ensured optimal maturity of the grapes.

Vinification and aging

Vinification at regulated temperatures. Maceration from 19 to 27 days. Aging for 18 months in barrels (60% new, 40% of one wine).

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (52%)
Merlot (48%).

Tasting

Color
Intense, the color reveals a beautiful dark shade.

Nose
The nose exhales fruity (blackberry, cherry), spicy and woody fragrances.

Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2016 is a Pauillac wine that can be cellared until around 2036 to reveal its full aromatic palette.
