Description
The vivacity and richness of a Sauternes wine
The estate
Château Doisy-Védrines, some of whose buildings date back to the 16th century, takes its name from the Chevaliers de Védrines who were the historical owners until the middle of the 19th century, when the Castéja family acquired the château. This Sauternes Grand Cru Classé in 1855 is distinguished by the rich, liquored style of its wines, which are perfectly suited to ageing and develop wonderfully over the years.
The vineyard
Located in the Barsac region, Château Doisy-Védrines has a beautiful Haut-Barsac croup, essentially composed of clay-limestone soils and shallow fine gravel, all resting on a fossil-rich limestone plain. The 27-hectare single vineyard, with vines over 35 years old, grows Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle and Semillon. An illustrious reference among Sauternes wines, Château Doisy-Védrines obtained HVE 3 certification in 2019.
Winemaking and ageing
22 batches were included in the blend for this vintage. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (1/3 of which were new).
Blend
Sémillon (90%)
Sauvignon Blanc (8%)
Muscadelle (2%).
