The estate
As the 3rd Grand Cru Classé of Margaux in 1855, the Château Desmirail embodies all the distinctiveness of this exceptional terroir through its wines. Owned by the Lurton family since 1992, Château Desmirail has equipped itself with infrastructure that matches its terroir, enabling this Cru Classé to reach the highest level.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Desmirail spans approximately forty hectares, cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment through the implementation of sustainable viticulture. The soils consist of gravels from the Quaternary period, which form the preferred terroir of this illustrious Margaux property.
The vintage
With a capricious sky that tested the nerves of the winegrowers, the harvest at Château Desmirail began on Wednesday, September 25 and lasted for three weeks. Picked according to their maturity, the Merlots and Cabernets exhibited superb fruit and moderate alcohol levels. For the estate, 2019 is a year that combines both quantity and quality. This splendid vintage is already showing similarities to years like 59, 89 and 2009.
