The property

Château Desmirail, founded in the 18th century, is located in the Margaux appellation, in Cantenac, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Covering about 40 hectares, including 35 hectares of vineyards, it was classified as a 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Since 1992, Denis Lurton has been running the estate, continuing the modernization efforts initiated by his father, Lucien Lurton. The combination of architectural heritage, including an 18th century charterhouse and a 19th century wine storehouse, with contemporary facilities, gives Château Desmirail a precious uniqueness in the Bordeaux wine landscape.

The vineyard

The Château Desmirail vineyard benefits from a typical terroir of the Margaux appellation, characterized by deep gravel soils that ensure natural drainage and regular feeding of the vines. This privileged situation allows the grape varieties to fully express themselves and produce wines combining finesse and elegance, characteristics of the great Margaux wines.

The vintage

The 2015 vintage is considered one of the most successful recently in Bordeaux. The harvest took place from September 21 to October 9, 2015, under optimal conditions allowing the harvesting of perfectly ripe grapes. This vintage follows in the footsteps of great vintages like 2005, 2009 and 2010, offering a beautiful creaminess and noble freshness.

Vinification and aging

After a rigorous selection of the grapes, the vinification of Château Desmirail 2015 was carried out with the utmost care under the supervision of consultant Eric Boissenot.
