The unique personality of a great dry white from Bordeaux
With the "R" de Rieussec 2017, the Sauternes First Classified Growth Chateau Rieussec continues to distinguish itself among the greatest wines of the Bordeaux Blancs secs appellation.
Located in the village of Fargues, 30 km south of Bordeaux, the iconic Chateau Rieussec, renowned for its great sweet Sauternes wines, also produces superb dry white wines, reflecting their exceptional terroir of origin.
Product of a challenging vintage, the "R" de Rieussec 2017 comes through with flying colors. Although the devastating frost of April did indeed touch the region, it spared most of the vines of Chateau Rieussec. The subsequent climatic conditions then allowed the grapes to reach full maturity under excellent sanitary conditions, just in time for the harvest, which began early on August 23rd.
The "R" de Rieussec 2017 is simply outstanding. The intensity of its aromatic expression reveals the typical characteristics of the grape varieties used in the blend, which combines Semillon (54%) and Sauvignon Blanc (46%). A great wine displaying the magnificent personality of the great terroirs of Sauternes in a dry white style, ready to be savored in the radiance of its youth or kept for 2 years to allow it to fully bloom.
