Description
The elegance and structure of a great dry white wine from Graves
The property
Located south of Bordeaux, in Pessac, the Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest crus in Bordeaux. The château takes its name from Pope Clement V who developed the vineyard activity of the property in the 13th century. Château Pape Clément thus produces wines whose reputation has been established for over seven centuries. Owned by Bernard Magrez, Château Pape Clément stands out among the greatest crus of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
The vineyard intended for the production of the Le Prélat de Pape Clément 2018 cuvée extends over 10 hectares of vines, averaging 30 years old, located in the communes of Cérons, Illats and Podensac, within the Graves appellation.
Vinification and aging
Manual filling of the pneumatic press followed by whole grain pressing with slow pressure increase. Gravity-fed barreling. Racking and fermentation in French oak barrels. Aging on fine lees and regular stirring.
Blend
Le Prélat de Pape Clément 2018 is the result of a blend of 71% sémillon, 16% sauvignon blanc, 12% sauvignon gris and 1% muscadelle.
