Description
The expression of a great Pomerol terroir in a superb 9 vintage
The property
Owned by the Bourotte-Audy family, the Clos du Clocher estate is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. Like a "wonderful garden" surrounded by walls, Clos du Clocher is a crucial reference of the great Pomerol wines thanks to its assertive and unique style.
The vineyard
The Clos du Clocher vineyard extends over 5.90 hectares of vines with an average age of 33 years. Located on the Pomerol plateau, facing the church, the vineyard enjoys an exceptional location. The vines of Clos du Clocher are planted on clay-lime soils resting on subsoils of blue clays and deep gravels. Committed to a comprehensive environmental policy, the vineyard is managed with reasoned viticulture.
Vinification and aging
Stainless steel and thermoregulated cement tanks and small capacity tanks. Parcel vinification. 18 months in French oak barrels (2/3 new barrels and 1/3 of a wine).
Characteristics and tasting advice for Clos du Clocher 2019
Tasting
The wines of Clos du Clocher are a safe bet of the Pomerol appellation. They elegantly and accurately reflect the richness and opulence of Merlot by developing notes of black fruits, violet while truffle notes appear over time. Cabernet Franc brings spicy and minty or tobacco notes full of freshness. True to the reputation of Pomerol wines, Clos du Clocher is a long-keeping wine.
