Description
A historic wine in an exceptional vintage
Reviving a forgotten tradition to create an exceptional wine by reviving the practice of "hermitaged" wines, that's the wager that's come true with Historical XIXth century WINE 2016 revealed by the prestigious Chateau Palmer.
In the 19th century, certain Bordeaux properties used to blend the clairets with the Syrah from the Rhone to bring power and structure to their wines. At the time, these were called "hermitaged" wines. Following the implementation of the AOC system and its regulations, hermitaged wines were abandoned.
While tasting a hermitaged wine from the 19th century on the occasion of a trip to the home of a great Californian collector, Thomas Duroux, the director of Chateau Palmer, wanted to bring this tradition up to date.
In a magnificent bottle specially dressed for the occasion, Chateau Palmer presents Historical XIXth Century Wine 2016. An exceptional wine that brings together the best of Bordeaux know-how and the Rhone Valley in an blend of Merlot (45%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) containing 10% of wines from northern Cotes du Rhone.
Rare wine combining the excellence of a prestigious Margaux and Rhone wines, Historical XIXth Century Wine 2016 will delight wine lovers and collectors of great wines from all over the world.
