Description
A rich and fresh Medoc red wine
The estate
Owned by Bernard Magrez, Chateau Les Grands Chenes is located in the Medoc region, in Saint-Christoly du Medoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate's vineyard was built around a fortress dating from the 16th century.
The vineyard
Chateau Les Grands Chenes 2021 is a Medoc wine that stems from a 46-hectare vineyard. The vines are 40 years old on average and are planted on Garonne gravel soils.
The vintage
The warm, wet winter preceded a cool, rainy spring marked by frost. The summer is cool and humid.
Vinification and aging
Manual sorting of the grapes on a vibrating table. Vinification by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with selected yeasts, followed by pumping over to control extraction. Vatting time for 28 to 30 days. Aged for 14 months in vats (50%), barrels (45%, of which 50% are new) and jars (5%).
The blend
Merlot (60%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (40%).
