The estate
The Chateau Langoa Barton is a Third Classified Growth in 1855 from the Saint-Julien appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate was acquired in 1821 by the influential trading company Barton & Gustier, already experienced in wine production in this area around Chateau Leoville Barton, acquired by the same family in 1826. Today, the Barton family still owns the estate.
The vineyard
The Chateau Langoa Barton 2009 is a Saint-Julien wine from a vineyard planted on gravel with clay subsoils.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest before sorting, destemming, crushing and then vatting to start parcel vinification. Alcoholic fermentation for 7 to 10 days. Gentle extraction accompanied by pump-overs. Maceration for about 3 weeks before racking into barrels by batch. Aging between 16 and 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
