Description
The elegance of a Margaux red wine
The property
Owned by Marie-Laure Lurton, the Château La Tour de Bessan originates from an ancient 13th-century tower. Château La Tour de Bessan is now recognizable thanks to its contemporary building designed by the Toulouse architect Vincent Defos du Rau. Driven by the dynamism of Marie-Laure Lurton, the estate has significantly evolved. The vineyard has undergone restructuring and significant cultural choices have been made. As of the 2003 vintage, the vineyard has been certified "terra vitis". Château La Tour de Bessan has also equipped itself with state-of-the-art technical facilities that have allowed this beautiful property to stand out among the most beautiful references of the Margaux appellation by achieving the title of Crus Bourgeois.
The vineyard
Located in 3 municipalities of the prestigious Margaux appellation (Soussans, Arsac, Cantenac), the vineyard of Château La Tour de Bessan extends over 31 hectares of Pyrenean gravel. The vines, averaging 25 years old, are planted with a density of 6,660 to 7,760 vines per hectare.
Vinification and aging
The selection and vinification are carried out on a parcel basis, with an adaptation of maceration by vat. Aging is carried out in French oak barrels for a variable duration adapted to the identity of the vintage (30% new wood).
Blend
Château La Tour de Bessan 2020 is the result of a blend of merlot (61%), cabernet sauvignon (33%) and petit verdot (6%).
