Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Duhart-Milon 2011

Tasting

Nose
The nose enchants with its floral fragrances, characteristic of cabernet sauvignon.

Palate
With beautiful precision, the palate combines a fruity structure (black fruits) with a roundness supported by a tasty persistence.

The expression of a Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac in an atypical vintage

The property

In the heart of the Pauillac appellation, the Château Duhart-Milon is a perfect concentration of this appellation. This 4th Cru Classé from Pauillac was founded in the 18th century under the impetus of the Lafite family who covered Pauillac with vines at that time.

The vineyard

Château Duhart Milon is a Pauillac wine from a 76-hectare vineyard located west of Château Lafite-Rothschild. The soils are composed of fine gravel, wind-blown sands on tertiary limestone subsoils.

The vintage

Atypical, the 2011 vintage was marked by an unusually dry and warm spring leading to early development. Then things reversed with a rather wet summer. A hailstorm on September 1st added its share of stress on the shoulders of the Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe winemakers. Fortunately, the precocity allowed the grapes to be harvested at full maturity and the hail had no consequences and the vintage is ultimately fresh and delicate.
