Description

A fresh and balanced red wine from Pomerol

The estate

Located on the right bank of Bordeaux close to the church of Pomerol, the Château du Domaine de L’Église is one of the oldest vineyards of the appellation.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château du Domaine de L’Église is located in the center of the famous Pomerol plateau. Its grape variety, mainly composed of merlot, produces wines recognized beyond borders for their quality.

The vintage

2020 is the third vintage of a trilogy of very high quality, 2018, 2019 and 2020. Cold and slightly rainy, the month of January precedes a dry February with low rainfall and a heat peak on the 3rd (24°). Despite a cold climate at the beginning of the month, bud break occurs from March 24. More clement conditions from May onwards favor rapid flowering. Warm and dry conditions set in from July to mid-August when a rainy episode is beneficial for the vineyard. Harvested at full maturity, the grapes of beautiful quality give the vintage roundness, richness and elegance.

Blend

Merlot (96%), cabernet franc (4%).

Nose
The nose reveals, with elegance and a beautiful freshness, aromas of ripe fruits. Perfectly integrated, the barrel aging enhances the spicy character of this wine.

Palate
The dense and greedy attack precedes a palate that seduces with its structure and its tannic frame with a creamy touch. Despite a vintage recognized as warm, the palate maintains a remarkable balance and a tasty freshness.
