Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Canon 2014

Tasting

The 2014 vintage seduces with its harmony, combining tension and creaminess with precision. The nose opens on a floral bouquet mixing May rose, patchouli and peony, before revealing a beautiful aromatic complexity carried by an explosion of fruits, enhanced with spices, nuances of nougat and cocoa. A very beautiful vintage, which suggests a remarkable potential for evolution.

A vibrant and generous Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion

The property

Nestled on the heights of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, the Château Canon enjoys an exceptional location. Located on the right bank of Bordeaux, the superb property takes its name from the famous sailor and King's corsair, Jacques Kanon. It was in 1954 that Château Canon was consecrated Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion.

The vineyard

Château Canon 2014 is a Saint-Émilion wine from a vineyard of nearly 20 hectares whose vines, averaging 30 years old, are planted on clay-limestone soils.

The vintage

A mild winter precedes a rainy spring. The summer is humid and cool before a very clement late season.

Vinification and aging

Parcel vinification, gravity-fed vatting in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels (1/3) and in vats (2/3). The aging is 18 months in barrels (of which 80% are new).

Blend

Merlot (72%)
Cabernet franc (28%)
