Chateau Calon Segur 2016 : a fresh, opulent and structured Saint-Estephe
A 3rd Classified Growth from 1855, the red wine of Chateau Calon Segur is produced in the Saint-Estephe appellation. With a total area of 45 hectares, the estate is planted with vines aged 22 years on average. The vines are planted on Quaternary gravel and lacustrine clay. The wine is aged in barrels for 20 months, only in new barrels. Chateau Calon Segur 2016 blends of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
The Chateau Calon Segur 2016 reveals a bouquet of great elegance, combining black fruits (black cherries, blueberries) and spices (licorice, juniper berries). On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, with a nice acidity and magnificent tannins. It is structured, opulent, fresh, with tasty peppery and marine touches. Exceptional aging potential.
