An Elegant Spanish Rosé Made from Old Vine Garnacha

Situated in the town of Munebrega, Bodegas Breca was founded in 2010 by Jorge Ordonez and now produces some of the finest Garnacha de Aragon, one of the most ancient clones of Garancha in the world. The vines grow in the DO Calatayud, an extreme terroir with high altitudes, a diverse range of slate soils and temperatures that change 45˚F between day and night. The hot temperatures of daytime allow the Garancha vines to produce grapes with full ripeness, while the cool nights result in an acidity preserved in the fruit. The vines here were planted between 1900 and 1975 and are dry farmed. The Garnacha Rosé 2017 from Bodegas Breca is made of 100% Garnacha (Grenache) from multiple old mountain vineyards, planted between 1945 and 1970. The vines are cultivated using organic methods and gobelet trained. They grow in Cambrian-Silurian slate and quartz soils, covered by a thin layer of calcareous soil. The fruit is harvested by hand and then produced by a light saignee method, followed by fermentation with wild yeasts in stainless steel and concrete tanks. In stainless steel, this Spanish rosé is aged for 2 months on its lees.

The Garnacha Rosé 2017 from Bodegas Breca is a very elegant Spanish Garnacha rosé, presenting a pale pink hue in the glass. On the nose, it presents beautiful floral aromas, as well as red fruit, including stawberry.
